Is it legal for another co worker to threatened your job position?

I work at a grocery store and I order the load I'm a grocery manager I'm 21 n the old grocery manager who is now a receiver for the merchandise got mad because I order a small load it was only me who was going to be there to throw the load, but any ways to make it short, he got mad cuz I ordered a small load which he shouldn't he has nothing to do with my department, n said that he could have the store director demote me as fast as he supposedly had me promoted, so is it legal for someone to be saying that I herd he said that to someone else and idk if I should say something
