I AM NOT materialistic...now how do i make him see that!!?

My man is really old fashioned....and the only reason we are not engaged is because he thinks you need to pay 3 months pay check for a ring, get married shortly after being engaged, and give me a dream wedding that's going to cost thousands! How do i make him see that i don't need all that glitz and glamor!? All i need is him!
