Did Hitler fake his own death? If he survived, where did he escape to?

Long story short, Hitler presumably escaped to Buenos Aires, Brazil. Never heard that Eva Braun was to meet him there. And though it was only a "few years", it was a pretty horrific time period. And brought about World War II.
